About The Initiative

Transforming the Niger Delta Region

The Niger Delta New Vision is a comprehensive strategic initiative by the Federal Government of Nigeria, designed to address the historical challenges of the Niger Delta region through sustainable development, environmental remediation, and economic empowerment.

Under the AKA framework, this initiative coordinates multi-agency efforts to deliver tangible results across infrastructure, human capital, and ecological restoration — ensuring that the wealth of the region benefits its people.

2016

Launch of New Vision

The Federal Government formally launched the Niger Delta New Vision, committing to a comprehensive development approach for the region.

2017

Ogoni Cleanup Begins

Flag-off of the Ogoni land environmental remediation project under HYPREP, marking a historic commitment to environmental justice.

2019

Infrastructure Surge

Major road and bridge projects commenced across all 9 states, with over ₦50B allocated to critical infrastructure development.

2022

Empowerment Milestone

Over 15,000 youths trained through various skills acquisition programs, with 5,000 scholarships awarded for local and international education.

2024 — Present

AKA ND New Vision Portal

Launch of the digital platform to enhance transparency, track project progress, and enable citizen engagement across all initiative components.
